FEP projects 2009
FEP to launch the "2009 European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards", supported by EPSON.
The "FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards" is open to all professional photographers who are resident in a European country.
The first ever winner of the competition in 2008 was Philippe Moinet, QEP, France.
There are three categories within the competition: Social, Commercial and Pictorial.
4 awards will be presented: FEP European Social Photographer of the Year, Commercial Photographer of the Year, Pictorial Photographer of the Year and the overall FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year.
More info on how to enter and the rules and regulations: see the "Competitions" page.
New FEP logo
We would like to give the FEP logo a more appealing, modern look and feel. Following the Board's viewing of many options, the selected logo will be presented at the next FEP general meeting.
The second QEP book
The project to publish a second QEP book including all the QEP and Master QEP qualified since 2004 is gone one step forward. Thanks to Pascal Baetens, an Australian publisher has been contacted and he has agreed in principle to the following:
The book will consist of 256 pages with an introduction (general information on what is the FEP, what is a QEP, pictures of FEP events, etc), a Master QEP section (each Master will have one page with contacts and thumbnails of all 20 pictures in the panels, plus 3 pages with 3 images taken from the same panel), a QEP section (each QEP will have one page with a single image from his panel).
QEP will be presented by categories. For practical reasons, the categories will be limited to 10 as follows: commercial/advertising; industrial/corporate; architecture/interiors; fashion; weddings; portraits; nudes; illustrative; landscape/nature; press and reportage (not necessarily in this order). There will be an index which will be comprised of a Master index, 3 QEP indexes (per country, per specialisation and an alphabetical list with the contacts) and some indication for readers about the contents of the FEP activity.
The Guild of Qualified European Photographers
We remind you of the aims and the highlights of the project, which is clearly focused for individual photographers, and not directly for the associations:
- Giving exposure to the Master QEP and QEP Guild members
- Creating extra income possibilities for the members (and the FEP)
- Representing and promoting the QEP system as the emblem of excellence in Europe
Contents and benefits for the members:
* Promotion of the Guild members, to the international press, public magazines etc. when the occasion occurs (i.e. when they launch exhibitions, publications, workshop programs etc.). The FEP will also aim to help the new Guild members to present their new qualifications at a local level (to impress institutions, clientele, etc.).
* QEP international dating system through an e-mailing list and, if agreed, through a forum in the web site. This will help members establish communication with other fellow photographers to resolve mutual problems or to get information.
* Complete guidance for the uniformed use of the logos (QEP and Master QEP). If agreed, in the future, we may supply the Guild members with exclusive gadgets (t-shirt, vest, pins etc.).
* Holding presentations and seminars: a list of QEP recommended speakers, on special conditions, for attending national events will be set up, asking all Guild members...
*
Exclusive Training: The attendance at a special annual Guild members meeting class.
* The QEP BOOKS, dedicated pages published every 4-5 years.
* A CD with their current works, circulated once a year.
Membership of the QEP Guild is free for 2009 and for the first year for new QEP's. It is yet to be decided on, the amount of a (small) fee for the following years.
In a few words: Guild members will get: promotion, prestige and potential exposure.
Benefits for the associations:
Members of the member associations will have a better understanding of the value they can gain when applying the European qualifications and of the benefit they get from their membership of the FEP.
Benefits for the FEP: prestige, exposure of the name, and in future a possible income.
