João Carlos is a distinguished advertising, fashion, and fine art photographer with over two decades of experience in the industry. Born in New York to Portuguese parents, João’s artistic journey began with painting and fine arts, leading him to study at the Ar.co Institute of Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon, Portugal. Throughout his career, João has collaborated with renowned brands such as Nike, Avon, Pfizer, Staples, HP, Vodafone, Barclays Bank, Universal Music, EMI Records, Wella Hair, Infiniti, and SanDisk.
His exceptional work has graced the pages of esteemed publications including Elle, Forbes, Kurv, Chaos Magazine, Eclectic Magazine, Dilema, Wallpaper, Nstyle Magazine, Umbigo Magazine, Numero Magazine, Blink Magazine, W25 Magazine, and Iconography Magazine.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to photography, João was honored with the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award in 2010 and Photographer of the Year Portugal in 2023
