Biography

Anna Korbut (b. 1989) is a visual artist from Ukraine working with photography and mixed media, currently based in Switzerland. She explores the relationships between humans and nature and deeply engages with Anthropocene issues, starting a dialogue with science at a time of advanced climate change. Anna also delves into the individual's inner world and interpersonal connections. She experiments with digital and analogue techniques, drawing inspiration from mountains' beauty, Augusto Giacometti's and Helen Frankenthaler's vivid colours, Auguste Rodin's sculptures, and Erich Fromm's texts. Anna studied Contemporary Photography at Poznan Academy of Arts (PL) and holds an MA in Journalism from Karazin National University (UA). She is a member of the International Association of Professional Artists (IAA) and Visarte Schweiz. In 2020, she wrote a scientific paper titled "Anthropocene Problems in Contemporary Photography" and held lectures on this topic at Polish and Ukrainian universities. She also teaches at the Swiss Photo Club. In 2023-2024, Anna held three solo shows in Switzerland. She is selected for the Earth Photo 2024 (UK) exhibition by the Royal Geographical Society, London. Longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize 2024 (UK) and won the Silver Award at the Tokyo Foto Awards 2023 (JP). She received an Honorable Mention in the ND Awards (UK) and has been featured in Women United Art Magazine (CZ) and ArtDoc Magazine (NL).
